Horror Factoid: In The Orphanage (2007) Laura's necklace, a St. Anthony medallion, makes a clever reference to her plight. In Catholic religion, St. Anthony is a doctor and patron saint of lost items.

« A Message From The Founder

I want to take a moment to tell you about the Oklahoma Horror Film Festival (OHFF) and how we are going to bring a weekend of new horror films, screenwriting and filmmaking workshops, and film celebrities to Tulsa, Oklahoma.  This blog will feature trailers, movie clips, and interviews from the directors of the upcoming slate of movies so mark this page to check for updates.

The first monster movie I saw (at five years old) was IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE on TV.  I believed everything on TV was real, so when the monster jumped out in a close-up, I thought it was coming right through the screen to wipe out my whole family.  I ran through the house screaming a warning.  Once I learned I was safe in front of the TV, I quickly became a horror adrenaline junkie.

I’m still a horror junkie, but these days I’m on the lookout for fresh new horror stories and films seeking to be introduced to the world.  This festival isn’t solely for the horror fans, but for the mushrooming amount of filmmakers, storytellers, and other film talent and crew between the two coasts.  We will be rolling out new surprises about what to expect in the coming weeks.

We already have four distribution companies that have expressed an interest to discuss a distribution deal with the winning film on various platforms.  Production companies have expressed an interest to see the top screenplays, and even our own Dolphin Bay Films, one of the festival sponsors, is hopeful to find a project to produce plus perhaps a young filmmaker to helm the next film to be produced.

There is a hunger to learn the craft of visual storytelling, and the OHFF will provide workshops and panels to provide information to the aspiring writers and filmmakers.  We also will introduce some domestic and international films from up and coming artists before the films go to the big screen or video stores.  Finally, the horror fan will get the chance to watch movies all weekend and then meet the director afterwards and ask questions about the whole process.

When you sit me down in a dark theater and the silver screen lights up, the little kid in me locks onto the screen awaiting a new adrenaline driven horror ride.  For my friends, colleagues, and those I’ve yet to meet with the same affinity for the movies, then I invite you to come be a part of this memorable weekend.
